First of all, let me give HUGE kudos to Hubby, who overcame his fear of heights and actually went up a ladder onto the porch roof to replace the roof. I'm so proud of him!
Apparently, the previous owners put the shingles on going the wrong way, so the water just drained right into the ceiling of the back porch/mudroom. So one of the first things we needed to do was replace that roof. Luckily for us, the previous owners left some tarpaper and JUST enough shingles to do the job. Since every project requires a trip to Lowe's, Hubby went and bought some roofing nails.
For a guy afraid of heights, he shouldn't have bought the $20 ladder from Craig's List, since it was missing a rung. I would have sprung for an extra $10 or so to have a complete ladder.
Demo is always the fun part.
He seemed to be doing fine..............
Then THIS happened!
I have no idea why he made that face, but I thought it was hilarious. Sorry, Hubby!
Nice clean roof, ready to re-shingle.
He LOVES when I take a bunch of photos of him sweating.
Ta-da! complete roof. Yes, he did trim the edges afterwards.
Good Job, Hubby! Thanks!

Isn't it wonderful to have handy hubbys?! And yes, great job from one afraid-of-heights-and-ladders-to-another :-)
This is a project we have in front of us. We have a little cabin next to the house that is in dire need of a new roof...looks like it is something we can do! We also have to reshingle a lot of it. Congratulatios on your hard work!
Bravo, Tag! A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do :) Karen, the funniest part of your post is the two cartoons on the side. Hoot!
