Oh, Where Have You Been?

It seems like this is the last day of April, and I haven't blogged since........hmmm.....a long time ago.  What have I been doing for the past two weeks?    My life has been full and busy, but just not with anything I thought was post-worthy.

*I went out for drinks with my co-worker and my office supervisor to celebrate  1) that my supervisor will now be in our office exclusively rather than sharing time between two offices, and 2) that the PITA who drove me insane and made my work life a living hell was finally fired!

*I went and saw our friends from Pennsylvania and some friends from Massachusetts sing and play their songs at the Java Room.

*I went and watched daughter Jamie play her second football game of the season.  (The first was in Erie, PA  - we didn't go.  I wasn't interested in a 10-hour bus ride.)   Although they lost, Jamie played a great game with a touchdown, an extra point kicked, a shoe-string tackle that saved a touchdown, and a fumble recovery.

*Our bedroom is almost completed.   Hubby has to put on the new doorknobs, and we have to find the wall art.   But otherwise, it's an absolute pleasure to go into our new bedroom.   It's comfy, cozy and pretty.   If we ever completely finish it, I'll post photos.

*Hubby and I wrote a new song.  Perhaps next time, I'll post the lyrics.  I dedicated the song to my Mom.  We sang it out at an open mic this past Friday, and I think it was well-received.

*We had Hubby's kids over for dinner yesterday.   It was a belated Easter, triple-birthday celebration.   I haven't seen them for a long time.  It was fun to catch up on their lives, and especially fun to see the grandchildren.   Noah is a hoot.....and baby Elsie is a little bundle of joy.   I got in some good "Memere time."

See?  Not exciting....but full and busy and pleasant.   Tomorrow is May Day.   I'll try really hard to post every day ( or so) in May.

Happy Spring!!

A dress for Emily

Amidst all the hoopla with the bedroom renovation, I found some time to relax in my sewing room and make this dress for Emily.

I actually had a friend at work come up to me and ask if I did sewing on the side, cause she loved the dress and wants me to make one for her daughter!!  I said yes!!

The Floor Revealed

For all those who are sick and tired of bedroom remodeling pictures......fear not!  It's almost over!  This weekend we put 4 coats of polyurethane on our recently sanded wood floor.

The floor went from this:

To this:

And finally, to this:

Unbelievable, yes?

There will be one final (promise!)  photo when I have it completely done.....new window treatments, bedspread, etc.

Bedroom Renovation

This photo does not adequately display the horribleness of this room.  Besides the turquoise walls and the lime green rug (if you look carefully you can just see it in this photo), they had painted the ceiling blue and had a three-light spotlight for the ceiling light.

We had to essentially make the room into a blank slate (2 coats of Kilz on the walls) to be able to start over again.

White ceiling, new light fixture, pretty color on the walls and newly sanded original wood floors.

We still have to varnish the floors and do window treatments, etc.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Easter Invitation

Peter Cottontail, of the Happy Trail, has requested the honor of your presence at his home for a fine feast. If you should choose, you would be asked to bring only yourself and your loved ones, or possibly a sweet treat to end the meal, as Peter is positive it is practical for him to prepare the porridge properly.

Pretty Patsy,
Pepe and Petunia Cottontail are pleased to publish their plan to participate in the Paschal Party to be presented by Peter at his pleasant paternal pad. Personally, we are pleased to participate in the preparation of a pastry or pie to please the palate of our Papa.
Pleasant Parting!
Petunia :)

Pearlesent Patsy,
We are pleasantly pleased to prononce that Puth, Paula and I, Papajr, will be present for the preceeding feast at Peter Cottontails palace at Happy Trails. Since Peter has a pencentce for preparing and presenting the porridge it would be our pleasure to prepare and provide some possibly perfect post porridge pudding.
Pleasant Passage, Papajr

Alas, K. Paul and I prearranged to partake in a previously planned party during the time period of the feast. Our presence is required at the purposefully plump and plush buffet at the Old Salt for brunch, then we plan to return to Peter Cottontail's palace at Happy Trails to partake in the puddings and pastries provided by pleasant pals, including potentially playful palate pleasers provided by K. Paul and I :-)

I am please to proclaim my presence for Peter's fine feast. I shall provide a peanut butter pie for all to partake in pigging out!
pleasantly,
Petula

Greetings,
Kelly and I will be delighted to be there. I don't know exactly if we'll bring a dessert or not, since it seems there is quite a sufficient amount of desserts already being broughten (yeah, I said it). Just in case you didn't notice, this entire email doesn't contain a certain letter, and while you'll notice there aren't any "Z's", that's not the letter with which I am referring.
Cheers, and see you soon,
Nick
Also, it's not "V".

The eldest progeny of Peter's clan does indeed intend to partake of the feast, having parleyed with Peter proper he feels that all protocalls have been provided for. Attending will be the perfect one as well as the various wee ones from the southern litter.
