Sedona

 We started off our visit to Sedona with a Pink Jeep Tour!

It was another beautiful day and we enjoyed riding all around Sedona in the open jeep.  The town of Sedona is very built up, so our guide made sure to let us know he was bringing us to the "real Sedona".  He took us into the Painted Desert and Monument Valley areas so we could see some stunning red rocks!

It was like a sickness....we could not stop taking pictures!  And as others have said before us, the pictures just don't do it justice.

Tag was pretty fascinated with the fact that people who live in Sedona go about their busy lives with stunning red rock formations in their back yards.

A couple of interesting facts about Sedona......It was originally called Schneblyville, after the person who first incorporated it.  When he went to register it with the post office, he was told the name was too long and wouldn't fit on a stamp.   So he changed it and named it after his wife, Sedona.

When McDonald's wanted to put a restaurant in Sedona, they were told that the only colors allowed for buildings and signs in Sedona had to be the colors found in the natural surroundings......green grass, blue sky and red, beige and white rocks.   McDonald's wanted their golden arches, and sued the town of Sedona to get them, but Sedona won.   So the McDonald's in Sedona is the only one in the world with turquoise arches.

We spent the night in a very lovely bed and breakfast called Alma de Sedona.  Beautiful place with a patio facing a red rock view, comfortable living room/bedroom and a jacuzzi tub (of which I took full advantage!)

The place had beautiful grounds we were able to walk through.

It was an excellent place to stay in Sedona.  Tomorrow we tour around the town and see some more sights.
