"Before" Kitchen Pictures

When we bought our house almost 5 years ago, the inspector listed our kitchen as "sub-standard".  We knew we would need to gut it and renovate the entire thing.  But of course, that costs money!  So we satisfied ourselves with renovating the bedrooms, the hallway and the living room.  But the time has come for the kitchen.  So here are the "before" pictures:

The walls are 1970's style dark wood paneling.

The cabinets are probably original painted wood.

The dishwasher doesn't work and the sink is dark red porcelain.

The ceiling has been painted and re-painted and has many areas that were broken and fixed and obviously water stained.

The insides of the cupboards are peeling.

The stove no longer lights without using a match.

My favorite part -  the big hole in the floor in front of the dishwasher and sink.

Cupboard doors need baby safety latches to keep them closed.

When we bought the house I wondered what all the little bits of paper were on the floor. Turns out it's the linoleum is broken and you're looking at the back of it where it's worn through.

We hired Tag's Cousin Scott to be our contractor and decided we'd gut the whole kitchen and replace almost everything.

This is so exciting! I'm psyched for you guys! Even though it'll be a long & difficult (& expensive!) process, it'll be worth every minute & every penny. Looking forward to following the progress... -EL
